My sincere condolences to Shannon and the rest of the Talty family. I met David when I was 16 and David was 32 when I worked after school at the Burger King in Madison Heights Michigan. David and all the BK executives would come to up from Miami to tour the stores in and around Detroit. I moved to Florida in 1980 and around 2009 I found out that David worked at FIU. I reached out to him and told him about how I met him in 1968 in Detroit and he was nice enough to invite me to the Houston's in Miami where we had lunch and talked about my experience working for BK when he was their VP. 41 years later, we had the opportunity to meet again where we shared some great stories about those times. David was very generous and kind person and he will be missed. Thanks to David, I was introduced to his son Shannon and learned about his great Olde Hearth bakery in Orlando. Once again my sincere condolences to the Talty family. RIP David. Vic Rose
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Professor Talty was a great man and amazing professor. He will be missed.
David was a consummate educator who always believed in providing our students with a quality education necessary to prepare all of them for careers in the industry that he so dearly loved...meaning the restaurant management and development sector.
I remember a day when he approached our previous dean, Mike Hampton, and sternly informed him that we were 'dumbing' down our curriculum. I admired him for such dedication...and for never being shy to express his opinion.
My condolences to the family.
