I was a kid who MaryAnn took a chance on when she was General Manager in Bensenville, IL. I remember being taken aback a how petit she was but at the same time, had such an astonishing ability to lead. She was my first boss and consequently a mentor as she represented the first strong, successful and determined women in my life. I've pursued marketing and it was because of the many opportunities given to me by MaryAnn to explore and partake in activities that were so very new to me. She had a grand smile and never complained despite working endless hours during pregnancy #2 and #3 (which is when I worked as her personal secretary). She was so proud of her siblings. I always heard her speak about them in the proudest terms. MaryAnn also delighted when Mrs. Carmen would come over to the Bensenville office. She always seemed to have a skip in her walk on those occasions.
I am shocked and sadden because it's much too soon. I remember MaryAnn and so many good memories come to mind. When it was time to move on, she took me out for a surprise dinner and before parting way, she told me to never hesitate reaching out to her for anything. It was my dream to one day reconnect with her just to touch base and let her know I was doing well. I never had the chance. May she rest in peace and her family find comfort in the blessing that was her life.##imported-begin##Sandra Cruz##imported-end##
