ELEANOR ALICE PINDER

Eleanor and I shared the same father Stephen Aloysius McEvoy Sr., who was born in 1891. I last saw Eleanor in 1956 when I was in fifth grade. Over the years, our brother Brother Gilbert McEvoy, OFM kept me informed about how well Eleanor and her family were doing. Florida was and is a far better place to live than in New York. I was so very glad to hear how well she did in life.

Eleanor was my last living sibling. Our father Stephen was a great man. He lost both parents in 1895 at Age 4 and spent 10 years in an orphanage before living his teenage years with his older brother William, Eleanor’s and my Uncle Bill. Our dad thrived in spite of adversity. Eleanor and I both shared great genes!!!

I am so glad that Eleanor lived a long and blessed life. I extend my sympathy to the family and pray that Almighty God may bless and protect each one of you.

I remember the last time I spoke to Aunt Eleanor was about 5 months ago, she had an amazing memory as she told me stories about my dad James when he was a kid in Brooklyn. She loved her family and was proud of them all, rest in peace Aunt Eleanor we love you and will miss you...

ELEANOR ALICE PINDER

Eleanor Alice McEvoy Pinder went home to Our Lord on May 11, 2022. She will be reunited with her beloved husband
James Winston Pinder and son James Winston Pinder II.

Eleanor was born on September 13, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York. Her parents were Stephan and Alice McEvoy. She had four
siblings, Gilbert, Mildred, Bill, and James who all predeceased her.

She met and married James Winston (Winnie) Pinder and they moved to North Miami Beach shortly after. She remained in
the house he built for her for 70 years not wanting to leave because she felt close to him there. She went on to have
five children, James Winston Pinder Junior who died shortly after birth, Holly Scharr, James Winston Pinder Junior (Biff)
William wife Carol, Wendy husband Tom Springer.

Eleanor was a Real Estate Agent for Jessie McCoy at Caldwell Banker and loved meeting people and helping them find homes.
She found it very rewarding and made quite a few friends who continued to call her through the years.
Her Family was the biggest love of her life. She was very close to her grandchildren Ginelle Normand,
Jim Hartman, and Robert Scharr.

Eleanor and her husband were founding members of the Holy Family Church. Her faith was ever
present in her life. She participated in many charity events through the church
including being a yearly CLOWN for Ronald McDonald House. She also delivered food for Sheridan
House delivering meals for the less fortunate and took part of Toys for Tots.

She was never afraid to take on a challenge or helping anyone with problems they might have. She credited it to her
it to her Brooklyn Feistiness as she would call it. She will be missed by all that knew her and loved her.
God shared her with us for 97 years knowing what a loss it would be for us but finally
called her home.
